Balloon, Modge Podge and Dollies
Newest art challenge! No tutorial, no real plan, and honestly no clue what the final result will be. 😂 I grabbed a balloon, Mod Podge, and a pile of paper doilies just to see what would happen. For this challenge I used a new kind of Modge Podge – Modge Podge Paper. I’ll post a review of that product next. Sometimes the most fun projects are the ones where you have absolutely no expectations. Now comes the hardest part waiting for it to dry!
I didn’t try to make the layers perfectly even because that would’ve been boring. I wanted different textures, overlapping patterns, and a little bit of chaos. Sometimes the imperfections are what make a piece interesting.
Observation: The balloon began naturally deflating while the Mod Podge was still drying. Instead of ruining the project, it allowed the doily shell to slowly settle and create more organic folds and texture

Day 2 of the challenge
The balloon had shrunk down and I removed it from the project. I found the dollies to be soft. I only had one layer, maybe it would have been stronger with more than one layer. So I used some fabric stiffener to see if I could make it stronger. It stiffened up a little but not enough for it to be a sturdy piece. Lastly I painted it with black, purple and red. I loved the result. The shape was intriging to me and the colors blended well together.
What kind of art challenge should I attempt next?
