Rap Snacks Review: Snoop Dogg Chips, Ramen & Costco Variety Pack
Rap Snacks Review: The Chips I Couldn’t Stop Thinking About
Have you ever tried a snack once and then spent years wishing you could find it again? That was me with Rap Snacks. I first discovered them at Sam’s Club when they had a variety box, and the one flavor I still remembered long after the box was gone was the Snoop Dogg Cheddar BBQ chips. Those things were ridiculously good.
The other flavors in the box were tasty too, but the cheddar BBQ completely stole the show for me. Then one day Sam’s Club stopped carrying them, and I was seriously disappointed. Every once in a while I would think about those chips and wish I knew where to buy them again.
Not too long ago I found out there is actually a Rap Snacks website where you can order them directly. Naturally, I had to grab some.
Getting to try the Snoop Dogg Cheddar BBQ chips again was just as satisfying as I remembered. They still have that bold smoky flavor with the perfect cheesy kick. Definitely still my favorite.
While ordering, I also discovered Rap Snacks makes more than just chips. I decided to try the Lemon Pepper Chicken ramen noodles, and honestly, those were delicious. The lemon pepper flavor actually stands out and makes them taste different from your average instant noodles.
I also tried the Snoop Dogg Cheddar BBQ cheese puffs. I’m not usually a cheese puff person, but I figured I’d give them a chance anyway. They were okay, but for me the potato chips are way better. The texture and flavor just work better as a chip.
This week my baby girl found another Rap Snacks variety pack at Costco featuring Snoop Dogg flavors, so of course we had to try those too. These chips are kettle cooked in avocado oil, and you can definitely tell because they have a much heavier, crunchier texture than the original chips I loved from Sam’s Club.
The flavors we tried included Maple BBQ, All In, and Sour Cream, Cheddar, and Ranch. The Maple BBQ was decent, but the All In flavor was actually my favorite out of this pack because it combines garlic, onion, cheddar, and other seasonings into one chip with a really unique taste. The Sour Cream, Cheddar, and Ranch flavor was good too, just a little milder than I expected.
Honestly though, I was a little disappointed by how mild the flavors were overall. One thing I loved about the original Rap Snacks chips was how bold and flavorful they tasted. I expected these kettle cooked versions to have that same strong seasoning, but they were much more subtle. They are not bad chips at all, just not as packed with flavor as I hoped they would be.
At this point, I think Rap Snacks has become one of those fun snack brands I’ll keep trying whenever I spot new flavors. Some are definitely better than others, but the Snoop Dogg Cheddar BBQ chips still reign supreme in my snack-loving heart.
If you see Rap Snacks at Costco, Sam’s Club, or online, I’d say they’re worth trying at least once. You might end up discovering a favorite flavor you can’t stop thinking about years later.
