After seeing outline markers pop up all over TikTok, my curiosity got the best of me. When I spotted a set at the store, I decided to give them a try and went with the Crayola brand. Unfortunately, I wasn’t too impressed.
My first issue was the ink activation—you have to press and shake the marker to get it going, which I personally find frustrating and messy from past experience. Once I started using them, the outlines felt subtle and inconsistent rather than bold and crisp. The markers aren’t very smooth, and they don’t immediately produce that signature outlined effect you expect.
Overall, these markers seem best suited for simple line work or lettering. If you’re hoping for clean, consistent outlines right away, these might fall a little short.
