Looking for a way to turn your love of all things spooky into something hands-on and creative? Creepy Crafts by Ashley Voortman is a fun and engaging how-to book packed with step-by-step instructions for creating delightfully creepy crafts. Whether you’re decorating for Halloween or just enjoy spooky aesthetics year-round, this book offers plenty of inspiration. I own both the Kindle and paperback versions, and I highly recommend the paperback—many of the projects really shine in color, which makes a big difference unless your Kindle supports full color display.

I recently made the teacup spider from Creepy Crafts, and I had an absolute blast creating it. I found the perfect teacup at Goodwill, which made the project even more fun because I love giving secondhand treasures a spooky new life. Of course, things didn’t go perfectly. After spray-painting, the spider decided to stick to the cardboard, and a few legs broke off in protest. That meant some extra fixing and a little more paint, but I didn’t mind one bit since painting is part of the fun for me. To top it all off, I added some tiny bats to the teacup for an extra dose of creepy charm.

This creepy little creation came together with Apoxie Sculpt for shaping, wire for twisting up those spindly spider legs, and hot glue to hold everything together. I used ghost pepper red and matte black spray paint to cover the body and legs in spooky style, then finished things off with black and white acrylic paint to bring the bats to life. 🕷️🎨
